Announcing The Folklore 50 Africa: A New Chapter in Creative Excellence

The Folklore is proud to introduce The Folklore 50 Africa — the first regional edition of our annual campaign celebrating the creatives, founders, and brands redefining the future of fashion, beauty, design, media, and entrepreneurship.

This year, we turn our spotlight to the African continent — a wellspring of innovation, culture, and purpose-driven creativity. Across ten dynamic categories, The Folklore 50 Africa honors 50 individuals and brands whose work is pushing boundaries, challenging narratives, and making lasting contributions to their industries and communities.

From Lagos to Johannesburg, Dakar to Marrakech, these visionaries are leading with identity, intention, and impact.

What to Expect

Over the course of the week, we’ll be unveiling this year’s honorees category by category. Each spotlight offers a window into the bold ideas, cultural expressions, and groundbreaking work that define this moment in African creativity.

Here’s a preview of what’s to come:

  • Womenswear Designers
Bold prints. Effortless silhouettes. Powerful storytelling. These designers are reshaping global fashion and centering African identity on the runway.

  • Menswear Designers
Blending streetwear, tradition, and sharp tailoring, these visionaries are challenging convention and building globally relevant brands rooted in culture.

  • Accessories Designers
From sculptural bags to Afrocentric jewelry, these makers are elevating craftsmanship and telling stories through wearable art.

  • Home & Interiors
Furniture, scent, textiles, and ceramics — these creators are redefining what it means to live beautifully and meaningfully across the continent.

  • Beauty Founders
Centering melanin-rich skin and rooted in ritual, these founders are building the future of clean, effective, and culturally connected beauty.

  • Entrepreneurs
Visionary founders building purpose-driven businesses with real traction, innovation, and community impact.

  • Media
Storytellers shaping global narratives through inclusive content, creative platforms, and cultural influence.

  • Change for Good
Changemakers using creativity, advocacy, and innovation to drive social and environmental progress.

  • Photographers
Visual artists capturing identity, truth, and culture through bold, authentic, and lasting imagery.

  • Stylists
Behind-the-scenes visionaries setting trends, championing representation, and defining modern style.

This is more than a list. It’s a celebration. A platform. A movement.

We invite you to follow along all week as we reveal The Folklore 50 Africa and honor the people changing the way we see, shop, and share African creativity.

Stay tuned — the future is unfolding.
